Activities in Spanish

DO WHAT YOU REALLY LIKE DOING, IN SPANISH

The best way to learn Spanish is to do something you enjoy doing. Instead of thinking about difficult grammar questions or word constructions, you will be thinking about your activity;the Spanish language will follow in an intuitive and natural way.

THERE IS SO MUCH TO SEE…

Spectacular landscapes full of contrasts
Cantabria, on the nord coast of Spain, is probably one of the best kept secrets of Spain. There is no mass tourism, and yet it is a beautiful and very privileged area, with a wide variety of contrasting landscapes. It has a beautiful, 200km long coastline, where sandy beaches are divided by steep cliffs. There are more than 90 beaches to choose from! Further inland, the peaked mountains with their river valleys provide a captivating contrast to the soft hills and green meadows. A fascinating area with numerous excursions to be done, one nicer than the other.

Picturesque villages
You should not leave Cantabria, without having visited one of the picturesque villages, where it seems that time has stood still over the last decades. You can stroll through the cobble stoned alleys and practise the Spanish language in the shops, bars or restaurants, (very few people speak English). If you are a fan of Gaudi, you should visit his “Capricho” in Comillas.

Cities and art
Santander, with its many beaches, its natural bay, its boulevards, its famous Palacio de la Magdalena (once a summer residence of the Royal family of Spain), and the soon to be opened Arts Centre “Centro Botín”, should not be left out either. There are plenty of boutiques, bars or restaurants where you can put your Spanish into practice. And if you wish an even bigger city, why not pay a visit to Bilbao (about 90 km away from us) and go shopping or take a chance to visit the Guggenheim and the Bellas Artes museum?

If you plan to visit the area it will be easier to do so if you dispose of your own means of transport; if not, please do not hesitate to ask us to help you organise your excursions.

AND THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO…

 SPORTS AND ACTIVITIES IN SPANISH

Sports
Learning Spanish and doing sports is a perfect combination. There is a great variety of sports on offer locally; from watersports (sailing, surf, SUP, swimming) to any type of sport on land (hiking, golf, horse-riding, cycling…). For the  braver ones, there is the offer of adventurous sports, such as rock climbing, canyoning, ferrata routes, speleology…

Twitcher’s paradise
Cantabria is a paradise for bird-watching, due to the great variety of ecosystems on hand. Sea, marshland, rocky coast, dunes, farmland, rivers, woods and mountains shelter for many species of breeding birds.

Gastronomical activity courses
Food is a very important part of Spanish culture. Eating and drinking are social events, no matter whether they share some tapas or a full meal, Spaniards can spend hours talking about food! If you prefer the culinary site of Spain, why not do a wine, ham or cheese tasting? Or visit a local cheese factory or a local beer brewery? Or even better; do a cooking class with a chef. Whether you go for the safer Spanish tortilla or paella, or dare to go into deep waters by preparing a squid in its ink…. it will undoubtfully taste delicious!

KEEP FIT, HAVE FUN, AND PRACTISE SPANISH!

Your time will be too short to do all there is to do. Whatever you choose, driving through the country side, visiting villages, doing a wine tasting; you will definitely enjoy yourself and speak Spanish at the same time. There is no bettter way to learn a language than by doing something you like doing- you will be learning Spanish without noticing it! Languages & More is happy to help you organize your free time activities.

THERE IS NO BETTER WAY TO PRACTISE A LANGUAGE, THEN BY DOING SOMETHING YOU LIKE DOING; YOU WILL LEARN SPANISH ON THE GO!
