THERE IS SO MUCH TO SEE…
Spectacular landscapes full of contrasts
Cantabria, on the nord coast of Spain, is probably one of the best kept secrets of Spain. There is no mass tourism, and yet it is a beautiful and very privileged area, with a wide variety of contrasting landscapes. It has a beautiful, 200km long coastline, where sandy beaches are divided by steep cliffs. There are more than 90 beaches to choose from! Further inland, the peaked mountains with their river valleys provide a captivating contrast to the soft hills and green meadows. A fascinating area with numerous excursions to be done, one nicer than the other.
You should not leave Cantabria, without having visited one of the picturesque villages, where it seems that time has stood still over the last decades. You can stroll through the cobble stoned alleys and practise the Spanish language in the shops, bars or restaurants, (very few people speak English). If you are a fan of Gaudi, you should visit his “Capricho” in Comillas.
Cities and art
Santander, with its many beaches, its natural bay, its boulevards, its famous Palacio de la Magdalena (once a summer residence of the Royal family of Spain), and the soon to be opened Arts Centre “Centro Botín”, should not be left out either. There are plenty of boutiques, bars or restaurants where you can put your Spanish into practice. And if you wish an even bigger city, why not pay a visit to Bilbao (about 90 km away from us) and go shopping or take a chance to visit the Guggenheim and the Bellas Artes museum?
If you plan to visit the area it will be easier to do so if you dispose of your own means of transport; if not, please do not hesitate to ask us to help you organise your excursions.
