Where are we?

Languages & More is located on the North Coast of Spain, in one of the greenest provinces of the country; Cantabria. It is a privileged area, with only a 20-minute drive to sea, beaches and mountains. The Boutique Language School is located in a beautiful country house in the middle of a small village with stunning views. Forget about your daily stress and look at the beautiful scenery, whilst having private Spanish lessons by the best Spanish teachers.

Many of our students are surprised with how easy it is to get to us.

Ryanair offers direct flights to Santander from Stansted, Edinburgh, Dublin, Berlin, Düsseldorf-Weeze, Brussels, Rome, Milano, Valencia, Málaga, Tenerife Sur. Iberia and Wizzair also offer flights to Santander airport. Bilbao airport, which is only 90 km away, is another option. We offer transfer services to all major Spanish airports (please ask for our fares).

The Santander train and bus station are only 25 minutes away from us, rail and bus services are very good throughout Spain. For our customers from the United Kingdom, there’s the option of Brittany Ferries with frequent crossings from Portsmouth and Plymouth.

There is a direct hourly train service from the next village to Santander and to Liérganes.

The mild climate, with average temperatures of around 24ºC  (=75 F) in summer and around 9ºC (=48F) in winter, provides the ideal conditions for learning Spanish.

Take Spanish lessons and spend your spare time exploring the area. An active and entertaining way to practise the Spanish language.  There is no mass tourism, and in this region very few people speak a second language, so you will have plenty of opportunities to practise your Spanish!

You can either join one of the excursions organised by the local tourism office, or we are happy to help you organise your private tour.

Sandy beaches and steep cliffs
This region is probably one of the best kept secrets of Spain. There is no mass tourism, and yet it is a beautiful and very privileged area, with a wide variety of contrasting landscapes. It has a beautiful, 200km long coastline, where sandy beaches are divided by steep cliffs. There are more than 90 beaches to choose from; one of the most spectacular and longest beaches on the northern coast is only 20 minutes away from us. Good to relax and get some fresh air or suntan after your Spanish lessons.

Soft green hills and peaked mountains
Further inland, the peaked mountains with their river valleys provide a captivating contrast to the soft hills and green meadows. The most famous mountains are the Picos de Europa, (it takes about 1,5 hours by car), however, there are numerous mountains and mountain passes closer by (within 20 minutes from the village),  offering breathtaking views, wonderful walks and lots of opportunities to practise your Spanish. Why not rehearse your Spanish vocabulary on the top of a mountain?

Subterranean paradise
If you don’t like climbing the mountains, why not immerse yourself into the subterranean paradise of Cantabria, with many caves to be visited? El Soplao, with one of the world’s greatest collections of stalactites, stalagmites and eccentric formations, or El Castillo and Las Monedas, with some of the world’s most ancient Palaeolithic paintings, are definitely worth a visit.

Explore this beautiful area in your free time
There is plenty to see in the area. If you like driving we’d recommend you to get a rental car, if not, don’t hesitate to ask us to help you organise your excursions.
